I'm finding that the diversity and diligence this project requires is welcome. It excites me to think about the day when I take the last photo...who will I be then? My memories are caught between moments in the images; each day is a chance to save a little bit of that time. Which causes me to wonder as I see myself in each photo. I love this challenge mostly because it's helping me find my voice.

As always, I'm interested to hear which photo is your favorite. Have a lovely Saturday!

ps. changes coming to the blog soon!

running in his footsteps

The sun dipped below the hill, touching the grass with dusk. People cheered for their team and the boys ran swiftly from each end of the field, kicking the soccer ball. Wet grass filled the air with its heavy scent and the wind whistled softly.

And this boy? He watched from the sidelines, running back and forth from the field to the grassy hill behind it. Cheering his brother on, with words in his eyes saying that he wanted to play too. He laughed and wrestled with his friend, all the while glancing back to the boys running across the field.
caleb
I watched him bite his lip and focus hard on those boys, memorizing what they were doing. Mentally practicing for when it would be his turn to be out there, racing back and forth. He's following along in his older brother's footsteps, racing alongside him.

Laughing, like he's known to do.

Have any sweet memories from this summer?

homemade fudgesicles and messy faces

We've been enjoying some summer lovelies lately. With August approaching fast, along with whispers of back-to-school sales and the end of summer, each and everyday becomes more fleeting and precious. For now, I'm just breathing and enjoying the month we have left. And what a glorious month it's going to be! With a ballet intensive, some possible trip plans, and a meetup with Kiley, August is something that I'm looking forward to.
sammy
That being said, some of my favorite memories from this summer...
sammy
...are these ones.
sammy
My sister Chloe (our in-house cook and chef extraordinaire) decided to make a homemade fudgesicle. Without a recipe. Using only her imagination (and a good amount of knowing how to cook), she took it upon herself to craft the perfect chocolatey treat for a hot day. Or really, for any day. Because who doesn't like delicious fudge goodness on a stick? (or a spoon in our case)
sammy
With just icecream, vanilla, cocoa powder, and a secret ingredient she won't share, her recipe remains a mystery even to me. I can only guess at her measurements...but I'm definitely not left at a loss regarding the flavor. The icecream treat was one of the best things we've had all summer.
sammy
Sam seems to agree. Especially considering he ate about half of the fudgesicle.
sammy
But really...who can resist that cute chocolatey face?
sammy
Not me.
sammy
Have a favorite summer treat? I'd love to hear about it!

Loads of love,
Hannah

adorkable.

I'm not sure what prompts me to put up these posts.

Perhaps its my great humility.

Maybe it's the fact that it's been a hard week and Sam's been sick, so I need to write something lighthearted.

Or, really, it could just be because I like to laugh, and don't mind doing it at my own expense.

You decide.

Anyways, I'd like to present my brand new e-book...
adorkable
Aren't you excited?

Wait. Don't answer.
adorkable
This book is for the photographer in all of us. There's all sorts of tips on how to flip your hair and fail, use sunflare to the worst advantage, and, oh yeah, make a mean Leia Organa hairstyle.
adorkable
Y'know. Everything you need to know to go pro.

Okay, not really.
adorkable
My favorite chapter is chapter five. It's all about getting that crazy burning-hair look that's so popular. Believe me, have your clients attempt this and you'll be a winner everytime.

Because seriously, who doesn't want a picture of themselves with flaming locks?
adorkable
And of course, no one can forget the Killer Model Looks on page fifty-two. It's gold, baby. Or at least something like that.

Moving on.
adorkable
It's on sale right now on Amazon for a limited price of only $999.99 -- hurry and get it while it's still hot!
adorkable
What? You thought I was serious? ;)

Happy Thursday!

love note tree.

My mom is gone all week on vacation with some of her closest friends. She left around three in the morning on Sunday and we've been missing her something fierce.

I wanted to make something with the boys for her and decided originally to create cards. After going through our craft shelves, I recalled this lovely project by Miss Emily Rose, and decided to attempt to make one for our mom.

Gathering what sticks we had in the yard (and there truly was next to nothing), I put them in a mason jar and tied them together with a blue ribbon. After assembling the various items needed for the love note tree, I folded colored construction paper in half and cut out leaves, that when opened, became hearts.

We all decorated our leaves and wrote little notes to my mom. Then I tied a ribbon through a hole I had punched previously at the top of each leaf and simply looped that onto a branch. Our love note tree.

It's sitting in our kitchen now, waiting for my mom. A little tree of hearts; small love notes waiting to be read. Sticky with glue, punched with stars, and decorated with buttons -- scribbled words written by little hands.
