O Tannenbaum, O Tannenbaum, how lovely are your branches...

We picked up a frasier fir at Costco last Sunday. December made her presence known with wind and snow and our tree filled the car with its needles and scent. My parents, myself, Eli and Caleb were on our weekly shopping trip and Eli sat underneath the boughs of our Christmas tree, warily watching the snow drip from its trunk.

When Sam saw the tree, he ran up and ran his hand over the branches, crying "Christmas Tree!" (or, really, "Cismas Tee!"). We cut off the bottom of the trunk and the littles sat on the steps, watching as the sawdust and sap made a pile on the floor. I woke up the next morning and the branches had dropped and the tree filled our living room with a coziness only Christmasttime can bring.

My mom strung lights on the branches that night and Eli and Sam stared wide-eyed as the room was lit up with the colorful lights. I remember being that little and I remember the flutter of excitement that came from seeing the tree standing tall and sweet. With Christmas music playing and colorful tins of cookies and promises of December days to come.

How has your December been so far, friends?
