Melancholy

I find that songs are fascinating things. Melancholy songs most of all seem to hold a precedence over my choice of what to listen to.

Why melancholy songs? I believe that its because life is melancholy (an idea that I inherited from my father) and therefore, hearing those songs gives us a clearer understand of life, and ourselves. A lot of music is melancholy, which makes me easily susceptible to loving music. Both The End of the Innocence by Don Henley and The Piano Man by Billy Joel are two of my favorite songs ever; I also like 100 Years to Live by Five for Fighting.

100 Years to Live
I'm 15 for a moment
Caught in between 10 and 20
And I'm just dreaming
Counting the ways to where you are
I'm 22 for a moment
She feels better than ever
And we're on fire
Making our way back from Mars
15 there's still time for you
Time to buy and time to lose
15, there's never a wish better than this
When you only got 100 years to live
I'm 33 for a moment
Still the man, but you see I'm a they
A kid on the way
A family on my mind
I'm 45 for a moment
The sea is high
And I'm heading into a crisis
Chasing the years of my life
15 there's still time for you
Time to buy, Time to lose yourself
Within a morning star
15 I'm all right with you
15, there's never a wish better than this
When you only got 100 years to live
Half time goes by
Suddenly you're wise
Another blink of an eye
67 is gone
The sun is getting high
We're moving on...
I'm 99 for a moment
Dying for just another moment
And I'm just dreaming
Counting the ways to where you are
15 there's still time for you
22 I feel her too
33 you're on your way
Every day's a new day...
15 there's still time for you
Time to buy and time to choose
Hey 15, there's never a wish better than this
When you only got 100 years to live

I encourage you to listen to the song; to any melancholy song.

  4. I definitely know what you're saying. Melancholy songs are often the ones that I want to listen to automatically. Even if they don't have lyrics...there are so many melancholy film scores and classical pieces, I often find myself in tears just from how a piece has moved me into the depths of nostalgia or melancholy.

Thanks for sharing. I've heard that song, but I've never read the lyrics. Good stuff. :)

  11. Thanks so much for your comments on the FP Guestbook! Unfortunately, I hadn't checked the website in a long time -- up till now, so I'm two months late. >.>

I'm sorry, but I don't even have the answer to your question; but I'm pretty sure my sister, Christina (who did all the coding and HTML) can give it to you. Here is the link to her blog:
