If you follow me on twitter, you might have seen something about my ankle. I injured my left foot last year and it's been significantly weak since then. For the past year, it's been bugging me off and on and progressively getting worse through the summer. The pain has intensified since September, and in mid-October, I took a couple weeks off.
Last Tuesday I went into an orthopedic center and got an x-ray of my foot, then an MRI later that night. The deal is this...I have an extra little bone on the back of my ankle (like a spur). When I dance (or run), that bone gets impinged between other bones and causes intense pressure and pain. On top of that, my bone is really swollen (funky weird), which is similar to a stress fracture. The cartilage in my foot is wearing very thin and is rumpled, causing little cushioning. It's not arthritic yet, but unless it heals it will lead to that.
I'm at the point where it's painful to walk around too much. I'm meeting with a surgeon this morning, and will most likely be having surgery within the next few weeks. I'm very apprehensive and nervous about it, but am at the point where I'm ready to have the surgery so I can deal with the pain and heal. If you all could be praying for me, I would be so grateful!
